If you come from abroad and want to know how to work in the United States practicing your profession, or if you want to study, I can help.
Gustavo Mendez
Some days ago I stumbled upon a doctor, a very competent person, capable and of great experience, but also very depressed, with words full of bitterness and disappointment:
"I'm about to work on whatever, I can’t take it anymore, I need help."
Many people fall into such distress, they were excellent professionals in their countries, but despite that they cannot practice in the United States. Can’t they? Here is the first error, they can, but they don’t know how.
My job is to help those who think like that
I show them how it is possible to achieve their career goals. For 10 years I worked reviewing and evaluating credentials of foreign students and professionals, to get to this point where I am now able to tell people what they need to know. I'll tell a story that has to do with this.
When I started working as a credentials’ evaluator, I did so in one of the largest companies in this sector. I received my initial training and was assigned the job. And I can say it was a lot of work, and I really mean a lot.
The number of daily evaluations coming out of my hands was amazing, so many that one day, a little after I had started working in the company, I decided to keep track and write them down. The number turned out to be almost unbelievable. That figure did tell me something. The company for which I worked had a primary objective over any other: make money.
This is natural, but in my opinion it lacked an ingredient. I decided to add, on my own, that missing ingredient and, thanks to that, I could charge myself up and hold the overloaded pace that I was given.
I decided to help the people who had their documents evaluated. And in this fashion, my experience was multiplied because the papers in front of me, were worked for the benefit of the company, but they became living beings, people with dreams, goals and objectives, and thanks to them, my work, that could have been repetitive and maybe boring, became interesting. From that moment, every evaluation, whether simple or complicated, became a challenge: what does this person wants and how I can help her?
I had to learn not by reading, but by doing.
What I know now, I lived it.
And so I can say that more than the more than 12 thousand evaluations that I did and the more than 30 thousand that I checked and supervised, allowed me to become a person capable of helping others The Company achieved its goals, it made money; and I accomplished mine, I helped people.
That is my purpose now, which is why I give seminars, conferences and private consultation, because after having learned so much in that area, I want to assist people directly, to spare as much as possible, the overwhelming amount of problems I could see and they can go through when facing the evaluations field.
My experience as an International Educational Consultant is directly from work. It is also academic, for the many readings, research, and conferences I held. But I had to learn not only by reading, but by doing. Now I put that experience at your disposal, so you will not feel like the doctor at the beginning of my story, not knowing where to go. The Creator put me here to help you realize your dreams.
